Description

Odyssey Legacy Burst HB

The Odyssey Legacy Burst HB is a modern homage to the famed Burstbucker?1/2, capturing the dynamic flair and midrange punch that made these pickups legendary. With 6,500 windings of 42?AWG enamel wire around Alnico?V magnets, it attains an impedance of roughly 8.5?K?—resulting in lively, gritty tones with a vintage edge. This guitar pickup is tailor?made for players who demand expressive attack and searing leads.

Build & Materials

Each Burst HB is hand?wound in the USA, employing precise coil tension for consistent performance. The Alnico?V magnet provides a powerful, linear magnetic field that accentuates harmonic overtones and tightens low?end response. Machined nickel?plated brass covers and baseplates add durability, hum rejection, and a slightly tamed top end—perfect for balancing the pickup’s aggressive bite.

Signature Tone

Similar to Gibson’s Burstbucker series, the Legacy Burst HB delivers a pronounced midrange growl and articulate high?end sparkle. Clean settings yield glassy chime with rich harmonics, while driven channels break up with an organic, amp?like crunch. Its higher output compared to lower?wound PAF?style pickups makes it perfect for rock and blues solos that cut through dense arrangements.

Dynamic Expression

The Alnico?V magnet offers enhanced responsiveness to playing dynamics. Soft picking produces a clear bell?like shimmer, and harder attack spikes the output for dramatic sustain. The Legacy Burst HB’s output sits between classic PAF and modern high?gain pickups, making it a versatile choice for varied musical contexts.

Applications

Ideal for bridge installation, the Burst HB brings aggressive rhythm tones and lead tones that sing with bite. It pairs exceptionally well with tube overdrive pedals and vintage?voiced amps, though it also holds its own through modern high?gain heads. Its balanced yet punchy character suits blues?rock, classic rock, and even heavier styles when paired with the right amp and pedals.

Installation

The Legacy Burst HB fits standard humbucker cavities without modification. It comes pre?wax potted to minimize microphonics and includes long lead wires and mounting hardware for straightforward drop?in replacement.

Made in USA

With increased output and a punchy midrange, it delivers robust, gritty tones with vintage edge-perfect for fiery rhythm work and searing solos.
