HERE IS SOME GENERAL INFORMATION
Fortunately, this information can be used to ship a guitar anywhere, so, if you’ve found this article because you want to know how to ship a guitar, you’re in luck.
A HIGH-QUALITY BOX
Go to your local Guitar Center and ask for a MARTIN shipping box, as these are typically the best for shipping guitars. They might give it to you for free or charge a small fee. Avoid standard boxes from UPS, FedEx, etc., as MARTIN boxes offer better protection.
DOCUMENT IT THOROUGHLY
Take Tons of Photos of your guitar, focusing on close-ups. Also, record a Video of the Entire Guitar and Case/Bag. Ensure you capture everything inside the box, showing how well the instrument is packed.
KEEP PROOF
Make sure you have a Receipt for the Guitar and keep Our Invoice handy. These documents are essential for insurance and shipping purposes.
USE UPS SHIPPING
We recommend using UPS for shipping, as we've had better experiences with them. FedEx has often misplaced our packages, but our UPS driver is a trusted customer.
INSURED IT
When insuring the shipment, insure it for 100% of the value of the guitar, plus the price of the invoice, shipping costs, packaging costs, and an additional $100 for extra protection.
SEND TRACKING NO.
After shipping, send us the tracking number so we can follow the package's progress and ensure safe delivery.
What if it was Damaged in Shipping?
In the very rare event that your guitar is damaged during shipping, you will need to provide certain documentation to UPS to process the insurance claim. Do not throw the box away! It's essential to keep the box intact, as you will need to provide photos of it with the original shipping label. Without this, it will be nearly impossible to file a successful claim.
If the instrument is damaged during return shipping, don't worry—we will have photos and videos of the guitar on our end, as well as the invoice. You will need to take clear photos of the damaged item, the box, and the shipping label. Together, we will provide UPS with all the required information and work through the claims process.
Unfortunately, dealing with shipping insurance can be time-consuming and may take hours or even days. Because of this, we charge a $100 service fee for managing the claim process on your behalf. Fortunately, you've already accounted for this by including the extra $100 in your insurance coverage!
That being said, we’ve only had to deal with a shipping insurance claim once in all the years we’ve been in business. It’s incredibly uncommon, but it’s good to be prepared!
