5. Odyssey Horizon HB
The Odyssey Horizon HB bridges vintage warmth and modern versatility. Wound with 6,800 turns of 42?AWG enamel wire on Alnico?V magnets, it offers around 8.5?K? impedance—yielding articulate mids, smooth highs, and a tight low end. Whether you’re chasing classic rock tones or contemporary crunch, this guitar pickup adapts effortlessly to diverse musical styles.
Precision Craftsmanship
Hand?crafted in small batches across the USA, each Horizon HB coil is tension?controlled for uniform tonal output. The Alnico?V magnets provide a strong magnetic field that accentuates harmonic complexity, while nickel?plated brass covers enhance shielding and slightly mellow the top end for a balanced sonic profile.
Tonality & Character
Inspired by the DiMarzio DP104 Hendrix and Seymour Duncan SH2?X, the Horizon HB shines in both rhythm and lead contexts. On cleaner amp settings, it presents a glassy clarity with a warm, rounded midrange. Cranked through overdrive, it responds with tight, focused distortion—delivering enough growl for rock riffs yet retaining note separation for articulate solos.
Dynamic Response
Thanks to its higher winding count, the Horizon HB yields increased output while maintaining dynamic nuance. Pick attack and volume sweeps translate into real?time tonal shifts: light playing produces bell?like chime, and digging in unleashes a saturated sustain that’s musical rather than harsh.
Versatility
This pickup’s balanced character makes it a go?to for players who demand flexibility. In the neck position, it offers warm, singing tones perfect for bluesy leads; in the bridge, it delivers punchy rhythm tones that cut through the mix. It performs equally well with tube and solid?state amplifiers, as well as in single?coil?adjacent positions when set in hum?cancelling mode.
Installation
Designed for easy drop?in installation into any standard humbucker cavity, the Odyssey Horizon HB includes long lead wires and mounting screws. Pre?wax potting ensures minimal microphonic feedback, even at high gain.
