Odyssey Classic SSL SC
The Odyssey Classic SSL SC is a precision-crafted single-coil guitar pickup that brings vintage Strat-style clarity and sparkle to modern instruments. Hand-wound in the USA with 6,000 turns of 42?AWG enamel-coated copper wire on Alnico?V pole pieces, it yields an impedance of approximately 6.0?K?—delivering bright, bell-like highs, warm mids, and a tight low end. Whether you’re laying down glassy cleans, punchy funk rhythms, or articulate lead lines, the Classic SSL SC offers the quintessential single-coil voice with modern consistency.
Construction & Materials
Each Classic SSL SC is meticulously assembled in small batches in the USA to ensure tight tolerances and tonal uniformity. The Alnico?V magnets provide a strong, musical pull, accentuating harmonic richness, while the enamel-coated copper wire minimizes eddy currents for clear transient response. The bobbins are injection-molded from high-temperature thermoplastic, and the baseplate is milled from nickel-plated steel for robust shielding against electromagnetic interference. A thorough wax-potting process stabilizes the coils and virtually eliminates microphonics, making this guitar pickup studio-reliable and stage-ready.
Tonal Character
Drawing inspiration from classic Seymour Duncan SSL1 and SSL2 models, the Classic SSL SC offers sparkling high frequencies that shimmer through a mix, balanced by a rounded midrange that prevents harshness. Clean tones exhibit crystalline clarity, with open chords ringing true and single-note lines singing with expressive sustain. Under moderate overdrive, the pickup breaks up smoothly, maintaining note definition and dynamic nuance—ideal for bluesy lead work and vintage rock textures.
Installation & Compatibility
Designed as a drop-in replacement for any standard single-coil route, the Classic SSL SC includes long lead wires and mounting hardware for effortless installation. The nickel-plated steel baseplate ensures solid grounding, and the standard two-conductor hookup makes wiring straightforward on most guitars.
